 Scope: This subject guide provides a selection of resources useful for Accounting.


 On the Library homepage, click on “Online Resources by Subject”> “Business – Journal & News Articles

To access a comprehensive list of available print and online journals in Accounting:

1. On the Library home page, click on Find Journals & Newspapers by Title

2. In the Browse Journal by Subject box,  choose Business and Economics

3. Choose Accounting or another relevant subject. 


To search a specific journal, newspaper, or magazine:

     (Useful if you have the citation and need to find the article.)

1. On the Library home page, click on Find Journals & Newspapers by Title

2. Type the title you are looking for in the top box and click on the search button.

3. Search results will show: if the title is available in a database, print, or microform; the range of dates to which we have access; and if in print, the campus where the resource is housed.  If the title is available in a database, click on the link to access that database.




          American Accounting Association

A professional organization. On the homepage, from the drop down box> select "Student Superlinks"> click "Go" to access a list of links to accounting associations, standard setters, accounting and professional service firms, government agencies, and selected online financial publications. 


          American Institute of Certified Public Accountants 

A professional organization. On the homepage, from the table on the left hand side of the page> click on "Becoming a CPA/Academic Resources">"Accounting Education Center."  Offers access to reports, studies, career development information, and more. 



A professional organization. Offers "links and useful information on a wide variety of audit related topics."On the home page, from the left hand side table> click on The AuditNet Library includes: the audit process step by step, a collection of audit related presentations, worksheets, reports, and links to other audit related sites.  


         CCH: Commercial Clearinghouse

Publishers of business and tax law information since 1913. In the left hand column, News and Commentary contains links to Quick Tax Facts, monthly newsletters on taxation, sales tax, and daily tax and accounting headlines. Tax Legislation contains links to chronologically arranged Legislative Hightlights, Tax Research NetWork Legislation Coverage, which collates the latest legislative action by bill, and Tax Breifings, which recounts proposed legislationand explains its impact. 


          Financial Accounting Standards Board

          An independent, private sector organization that establishes the standards that govern the preparation of financial accounting and reporting.


Government Accounting Standards Board 

An independent organization that establishes and improves standards of accounting and financial reporting. The official source of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for state and local governments. Summaries of GASB pronouncements may be accessed from the left hand column, click on Summaries/Status.

         International Accounting Standards Board   

An independent organization that establishes and improves international standards of accounting and financial reporting. Summaries of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs), International Accounting Standards (IASs) and Interpretations are available from the homepage; in the left hand column click on IFRS Summaries.

          International Federation of Accountants   

A professional organization. Its standard setting boards "develop international standards on ethics, auditing and assurance, education, and public sector accounting standards." In the left hand column, Media Center contains the IFAC newsletter, leadership biographies, and speeches and articles written by members.


          Tax and Accounting Sites Directory  

A large browsable index of web-based tax and accounting resources designed to be a starting point for people who are searching for tax and accounting information, products, and services.


          WebCPA: Resources for the Electronic Accountant 

An electronic magazine. Non-members can access free articles in these areas of interest: Audit, Financial Planning, Tax, Technology, Practice Management, Small Business, and Reviews of Products. Registered members (free) also have access to e-mail newsletters, special reports, and access to other publications in the publishing group. 



         Corporate Information Online

Publishers of company research reports. Free content includes Top 100 Lists, Currency Exchange Rates, and Definitions of Company Extensions, Research Links arranged by County or Industry and Country, and Company Snapshots providing basic financial data.  


CNN/Money Financial News

Business and Financial News magazine. Click on Get Quote to search for company information by stock symbol, name, or keyword. Or, type a keyword search term in the Search Box to see related articles available on the website.


Edgar-SEC Filings: 10Qs and 10K Annual Reports

U.S. Government website. Contains Company Filings, Regulatory Actions, Investor Information,  and Litigation information.  Also in the right hand table see information for Accountants.
